FA Cup fixture chaos as freezing weather sees Accrington Stanley replay with Boreham Wood called off at last minute

FREEZING conditions have forced the game between Accrington Stanley and Boreham Wood to be called off, creating fixture chaos.

The match was set to take place at the League One side’s ground tonight but it has been postponed at the last minute due to a frozen pitch.

An FA-appointed referee deemed the conditions “unplayable”.

It is a third round replay tie after the first clash between the two ended 1-1.

The fixture has now been rescheduled and will take place on January 24 at 7:45pm.

Accrington or Boreham Wood are set to play Leeds or Cardiff in the fourth round of the cup at the weekend that commences on January 28.

It means the winner of the clash between the Whites and the Bluebirds won’t know who they are going to play until a matter of days before.

Consequently, it hands fans an arranging problem and the managers of the teams little time to prepare for the game.

Things are even worse for The ‘Owd Reds and The Wood because they both already had fixtures in place for January 24.

Accrington’s league game versus Plymouth has subsequently been cancelled to fit in the FA Cup replay.
