Arsenal vs Leeds betting tips

Arsenal have to navigate ten matches to claim their first Premier League title since the club’s ‘Invincibles’ season in 2003-04. The Gunners enter the run-in with an eight-point advantage over Manchester City, who’ve played a game less.

They also enter without the distraction of any other competition having exited the Europa League to Sporting Lisbon before the international break. That means Mikel Arteta and his squad can focus all their efforts on the Premier League, starting with Leeds on Saturday.

That’s not a luxury afforded to Pep Guardiola’s side, who still have the elusive Champions League and FA Cup to conquer.

Arsenal made short work of managerless Crystal Palace before international duty, and will want to pick up where they left off following a run of six consecutive league victories. As mentioned, they have 10 matches left but those include clashes with Liverpool, second-placed Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle.

Leeds, meanwhile, have felt the benefits of their ‘new manager bounce’ since Javi Gracia replaced Jesse Marsch at Elland Road. United have lost one top-flight outing since the Spaniard took charge, winning twice and drawing once.

Victory over Southampton and a comprehensive 4-2 thumping of Wolves have sent Leeds into 14th position with 26 points, and two clear of the relegation zone. However, like Arsenal, they have some extremely tricky fixtures ahead with Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham left to play.

Makes sense…

Arsenal haven’t messed about at home in recent months. The Gunners have been free-scoring to say the least having netted 16 in their last six league matches at the Emirates. But they’ve not been fully water-tight in defence having registered one clean sheet during that period.

Only Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Leicester and Southampton have conceded more goals than Leeds overall, and they have the third worst defensive away record in the division.

But when it comes to scoring on the road, Leeds are better than most. Gracia’s side have managed 17 across 14 matches and that’s the same number as Manchester United and four more than Chelsea.

Our tip: Arsenal to win and both teams to score at 17/10 with William Hill

Assist machine…

Leandro Trossard only arrived in January and has already equalled the number of assists provided by Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira.

The Belgian, 28, has scored once and provided six assists in 12 appearances for Arsenal, meaning he’s averaging an assist every other match – or once every 75 minutes in the top flight!

He’s created 11 chances over the last six matches, with five of those classified as big chances and 25% of his 28 crosses deemed successful.

Our tip: Leandro Trossard to provide an assist at 6/4 with Betfair

On target…

As mentioned, Arsenal score plenty at home and Leeds concede plenty on the road. That should mean goalkeeper Illan Meslier will be a busy boy on Saturday afternoon and the Gunners attacking trio will fill their boots.

Leeds’ have given up 51 efforts on goal in their last three top-flight matches away from Elland Road, and 17 of those were on target — including eight against Wolves before the international break.

In fact, only Bournemouth, Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Everton have conceded more efforts on target this season. Only Manchester City and Liverpool can better Arsenal’s 147 efforts on target.

Martin Odegaard has had the most efforts on target than any Arsenal player with 76, while Gabriel Martinelli isn’t far behind with 67, meaning they both average a shot on goal around every 31 minutes.

Arteta will expect a fast start this weekend and that could mean a shot on target in each half for Odegaard and Martinelli represents value at 16/1.

Our tip: Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard each at least one shot on target in both halves at 16/1 with William Hill
