‘Why would you even say that?’ says Kate Abdo after Jamie Carragher’s most awkward joke ever on live TV

KATE ABDO had to pull up Jamie Carragher live on TV after he missed the mark with an awkward joke.

Presenter Abdo, 42, was appearing alongside Carragher, Micah Richards and Thierry Henry on CBS Sports’ coverage of Arsenal’s Champions League last-16 second leg win over Porto.

During a segment on the show, Carragher, 46, could be seen wearing an Arsenal shirt.

He declared that Henry, 46, and Abdo would have to wear the shirt next.

However, both were reluctant, with Abdo replying that she was “loyal”.

When the former Liverpool star asked to who, she said: “To Manchester United thank you very much.”

Carragher’s next sentence caused stunned silence from the his co-stars as he joked: “Not to Malik.”

After a brief pause, Abdo responded: “What, why would you even say that?”

Henry, himself was also shocked at the comment, looking at Abdo stunned and saying: “Sorry?”

Even Richards, 35, appeared to acknowledge the remark was in poor taste as he dropped his head to the floor.

Carragher tried to laugh off the tongue-in-cheek comment by saying Malik had not been mentioned yet.

However, fans could not believe the joke had been made in the first place.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “Look at kates and Henry’s reaction!!! Haha body language says it all.”

A second said: “Oh man.”

A third said: “As soon as its said, Kate and Thierry both looking at each other like, ‘on live tv you know’.”

Another said: “Micah makes this. When his head drops to the floor. You know Carragher has dropped a howler.”

Abdo’s partner Malik Scott, 43, is a former heavyweight boxer with a 38-3-1 record and best known for training former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

He has been mentioned in passing on CBS before, with Carragher and Richards teasing her in the past about her relationship.

Scott, recently shared a post on social media sharing an intimate moment with Abdo as she sat on his lap while he planted a kiss on her cheek.
