Ana Maria Marković was born in Split, Croatia, and moved with her family to Switzerland aged 12, growing up in Zürich.
She began playing football at 14 after becoming inspired by the growth of women’s football.
While in Switzerland she featured for U21 squad at FC Zurich for three seasons before making the move to Grasshopper.
She caught the eye of the Croatian Football Federation while playing for Grasshopper and was then called up to play for the Croatia national team.
She won her first cap for Croatia in 2021 and that’s when the media attention on her good looks began.
