Barcelona starlet Roma Vega is competing at the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Vega plays as defender for the host nation who are part of group A with UzbekistanGuatemala and New Zealand.

Vega was born on January 1, 2004 in Buenos Aires.

He started his professional career in 2021 at Argentinos Juniors and was sent on loan to Barcelona in the summer of 2022.

Niko Takahashi plays as defender for Japan in Group C with Senegal, Israel and Colombia.

He was born on August 17, 2005 in Cornella, Barcelona.

Takahashi’s parents are Japanese and Argentine, which makes him eligible to play for Japan, Argentina and Spain at international level.

And Derek Cuevas will start as a forward for the Dominican Republic, who are in group D with Italy, Brazil and Nigeria.

When is the Under-20 World Cup?

The Under-20 World Cup will kick off on Saturday, May 20, 2023 and ends on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

The host country is Argentina, after Indonesia lost its hosting rights.

The matches will be held in four cities across the country – La Plata, Mendoza, San Juan and Santiago del Estero.
