LUKE LITTLER raised some eyebrows after he made his debut at the World Darts Championship last night.

The 16-year-old put in a remarkable performance on his tournament debut beating Dutchman Christian Kist in the opening round at Ally Pally.

Littler sailed through winning 3-0 on sets against an experienced pro who boasts a world ranking of 91st.

‘The Nuke’ won nine of the 11 legs and posted an astonishing average of 106.12 – the highest of the tournament.

After Littler’s comprehensive victory in round one, it saw his odds plummet from 50-1 to 12-1 to claim the World Darts Championship crown and the huge £500k prize.

Luke Littler will face 53-year-old Andrew Gilding in round two of the World Darts Championship.

‘Goldfinger’ is currently ranked 20th in the world and will face the 16-year-old sensation next.

The match will take place on Thursday, December 21st, just 24 hours after Littler’s opening match.

Littler was understandably in high spirits after his first round triumph, he said: “If I average 106 in every game from now on, I’ve got a chance.

“All the nerves are out of the way now. This ranks at the top. It was crazy to see little kids with my own top on.

“It was a massive experience. The crowd were always singing. I’m glad they were on my side and it helped me get over the line even more.

“I couldn’t sleep on Tuesday night as I was so excited for this match.

“Walking on, I was nervous but when I stepped on to the stage, I said: ‘Wow.’ I didn’t want to go into my own shell. I wanted to be myself and I did.
