Vincent Kompany reveals his sons are torn between supporting Burnley and Man City ahead of FA Cup clash

VINCENT KOMPANY says his children will have a big decision to make when he makes an emotional return to Manchester City in the quarter finals.

That’s because they will be torn between supporting Pep Guardiola’s men and Kompany’s own Burnley side.

A last minute goal from defender Connor Roberts against Fleetwood Town earned Burnley a place in the quarter finals for the first time in two decades.

And they will make the short trip to the Etihad – where ex-City captain Kompany played with such distinction for 11 years until he left in 2019.

The former Belgium international said: “It’s a double feeling, I have to be honest. 

“My ties are strong with the club. The kids will have a tough decision to make on the day.

“I’ll look forward to it, I’ve a few games now that are more important but it will be a special day.

“The players have earned the right to look forward to such a game, good for them but I’m really calm about it.

“Past the hugs and high fives there’s a machine there, that wants to win every game. 

“I’ve gone back a few times, when you live in Manchester like I do – it’s a good thing to do on a Sunday.

“You go to the cinema so many times, you take the kids to the museum so many times and then you go to watch City or United. It’s still an easy decision for me.

“I’m the same as them, what they feel, I feel it as well. I still kick every ball when I watch them because I know the players.

“But I’m not as fast as I used to be, I’ve got half a belly now – so maybe I belong on the touchline.”
