SERGIO PEREZ pipped Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen to victory in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Mexican started on pole at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit and drove brilliantly under relentless pressure from the chasing pack.

But Perez stayed composed in the face of a predatory Verstappen to take first place.

Sir Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile could only muster a fifth-placed finish after starting the race in seventh.
