Tottenham vs Arsenal preview

Arsenal are set for their second London derby in six days as they continue their charge for the 2023-24 Premier League title.

The Gunners have shown that there’s still plenty left in the tank following their Champions League exit and defeat to Aston Villa.

Many thought Mikel Arteta’s side would buckle, but instead they’ve responded in the best possible fashion.

Arsenal secured comfortable win at Wolves before annihilating rivals Chelsea 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

They enter this clash at the top of the division with four matches remaining, and know anything but maximum points will hand the title to reigning champions Manchester City.

That’s easier said than done given Arsenal have won only two and lost six of their last 10 away trips to north London rivals Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are still in with a shout of Champions League qualification with two games in hand over fourth-placed Aston Villa, who are currently six points ahead.

But they enter the match having been pasted 4-0 at Newcastle and having failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last seven home fixtures.

Gary Neville branded the north London derby as his most enjoyable fixture, and I think many find themselves agreeing with him after countless classics in recent years.

This too could be a memorable one with so much at stake.

Defeat would more than likely end Arsenal’s chances of the title, while a loss for Spurs severely hampers their prospects of Champions League football.

An early strike could see this one explode into life with a draw being fairly meaningless for both sides, so goals could be the order of the day.

And I’m back Arsenal to score the majority of those having netted 3+ goals on 14 occasions already this season, while Spurs have conceded 3+ five times and 2+ in four of the last five against the Gunners.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard isn’t necessarily the first name you would expect to be booked during Sunday’s north London derby.

But there’s no doubt that he’s got form.

The Norwegian international, 25, has picked up just two bookings in 44 appearances this season – and one of those arrived against Tottenham.
