Tottenham target England U-21 and former Chelsea star as part of Postecoglou’s January transfer plans
TOTTENHAM are reportedly looking to swoop for an England Under-21 international star to bolster their squad in January.
Boss Ange Postecoglou has suffered a number of injury blows over the past 11 days that have rocked their fine start to the campaign.
Tottenham are chasing Juventus’ England U21 ace Samuel Iling-JuniorRex
Last week’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea saw both key men James Maddison and Micky van de Ven both limp out of action.
Forward Maddison, 26, is ruled out until January with a damaged ankle while the Dutch defender is set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.
A depleted Spurs, who were also without suspended duo Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie, then suffered a late 2-1 loss at Wolves on Saturday and have dropped down to third in the Premier League.
The Independent states that Postecoglou is “seeking to add much-needed depth” to his squad as he plots his targets for the upcoming transfer window.
And they report that Spurs “are looking at Juventus’ England U21 international Samuel Iling-Junior” as a potential signing.
The 20-year-old forward, who is equally comfortable on the wing as he is centrally or in midfield, left Chelsea for the Italian giants in 2020.
He broke into the Juventus first-team last season and he has so far scored once in 14 Serie A appearances.
Iling-Junior, who helped England U19s to European Championship success in 2022, has played four times for the Old Lady so far this term.

Juventus rate the youngster highly and he is under contract until 2025.
But this fresh update claims that they “have a good business relationship with Tottenham” – which could lead to a potential deal being agreed.
And the winger also “fits with Spurs’ plans to bring in the best young talent early in their careers”.
