Top jockey is banned and fined after betting £2,000 on horses in just one week
A TOP jockey who’s made millions on the track has been banned and fined after betting more than £2,000 on horses in one week.
Noel Callow, 47, cannot ride for three months and must pay £2,500 after failing to declare his betting accounts.

Callow, a five-time Group 1 winner whose earnings on the track exceed £22.5m, placed 24 bets totalling £2,240 in December 2013.
He made a profit of £672 on his punts – none of which came in races he was competing in.
Callow, who has more than 1,500 career wins, pleaded guilty to six betting-related charges at a Victorian Racing Tribunal hearing in Australia on Tuesday.
He failed to declare his betting accounts to stewards on three separate occasions while riding in Victoria.
Callow was fined £840 for each of his three betting breaches and has had another three months of his ban suspended for a year after he was found to have made misleading statements to stewards regarding his accounts.
The jockey’s legal team said he had not placed a bet on racing in the past nine years.
But judge John Bowman ruled: “At the time of committing these offences you were experienced and well known.
“You must have known that what you were doing breached the rules, which were designed to protect the image of racing.
“None of the bets were on horses you were riding or on races in which you were riding.
“We take into account the fact you pleaded guilty and have no relevant prior convictions.
“We also bear in mind the offences occurred nine years ago.
“We are both hopeful and confident that this will not occur again.”
