Three punters hit William Hill for £54,000 with ‘astonishing’ series of bets

THREE punters left William Hill traders licking their wounds after hitting the bookie for £54,000 with an ‘astonishing’ series of bets.

There were only three meetings in Britain yesterday and the shrewd bettors took full advantage of the action at Lingfield and Ludlow.

The first punter had the biggest win of the lot when they scooped £20,295.80 from a £1 win Lucky 31 (£31 total stake).

Incredibly, they were celebrating at the exact same time another bettor won £19,151.52 from a tiny 50p stake.

They both needed the Henry Daly-trained Miltiades to land the Class 5 2m4f handicap chase at Ludlow to hit the jackpot.

Both their wins were worth more than £15,000 what horse and jockey Richard Patrick got for actually winning the race.

The crazy 25p each way acca included six other horses, with five of them coming on the all weather Flat action at Lingfield.

The Bitter Moose, Completed, Oh So Grand, Mistress Light and Darlo Pride were all winners at 13-2, 7-4, 5-1, 3-1 and 7-2 respectively.

Kimberley Eve was a 13-2 winner at Ludlow – and that set up Miltiades winning the 2pm, an hour and 20 minutes before Darlo Pride’s win sealed the mega payout.

The £1 win Lucky 31 also included Oh So Grand, Mistress Light, Darlo Pride and Miltiades but also had 9-1 Intervention to boost the pot further.

Amazingly, a third punter then got in on the action too.

Their £9.50 win acca included Oh So Grand, Intervention, Mistress Light and Darlo Pride in addition to 9-4 Dutch Kingdom.

They went home £13,745.31 richer just in time for Christmas.

“Wins of £20,000 and £14,000 are fantastic results from just £31 and £9.50 investments respectively.

“But they were topped by an astonishing winning seven-fold, which scooped £19,000 from only a 50p outlay, making it one of the best bets we’ve seen in 2023.”
