Stephen Ambrosius reveals reason behind Hamburg contract extension despite offers from top clubs

Stephan Ambrosius Ghanaian defender Stephen Ambrosius says his dream of playing in the German top-flight with his home team Hamburg influenced his decision to sign a new contract with the club.The 22-year old signed a contract extension with Hamburg last month despite receiving interests from Scottish giants Celtic and English Premier League side Leeds United.Premier League side Leeds United were hoping to sign Ambrosius on a free transfer in the summer when his contract expires before he put pen to paper to sign a new deal.A move was out of the question for me, Ambrosius told German magazineSport Bild on his decision to extend his contract.Promotion with HSV would make my dream come true in my hometown of Hamburg.Thats my big goal., he added.

Ambrosius is eligible to feature for the Black Stars despite playing for the German youth sides.
