After the match Manchester City midfielder Rodri moaned about Scotland’s timewasting and their provocative tactics.

But he accepted there could be no excuses for the defeat, dismissing Garcia’s claim the grass was too long.

Spain centre-back David Garcia told Teledeporte: “We already saw that the grass was too long and that it was difficult.

“We can’t make excuses for that, we have to look at ourselves and correct what we did wrong today.”

Another added: “Ohh they are sore losers, it must be sour grapes season.”
