RUGBY heroes Kevin Sinfield and Rob Burrow are to receive gongs in the New Year’s Honours after raising millions for charity.

They are in line to get CBEs in the first list led by King Charles since his Coronation, it was revealed last night.

The former Leeds Rhinos rugby league teammates have been working to increase awareness and raise funds for charities associated with motor neurone disease, which Rob has been fighting for four years.

Kevin, 43, who is now England’s rugby union defence coach, has raised more than £9million doing ultra-endurance challenges in honour of his pal.

This month he ran seven ultra-marathons in seven days around the UK.

In May he ran the Leeds Marathon alongside dad-of-three Rob, 41, and carried him across the finish line.

Their efforts are now to be recognised by them joining the ranks of His Majesty’s Commanders of the British Empire.

A source told the Sunday Express: “The image of Kevin carrying Rob over the finishing line of the Leeds Marathon moved the nation.”

During this challenge, some fans asked if they could run alongside the rugby star.

However, Kevin’s fundraiser asks, for the safety of all involved, that people do not try and run with him.

Instead, supporters are asked to watch from a safe distance.
