Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski has been named FIFA Best Player for the year 2020. He becomes the first player from the German Bundesliga to win the title after it was restructured.

The awards took place in a virtual form on Thursday night where the Polish captain earned his accolade.

The Bayern Munich attacker becomes the second player in two
years to break the Messi Ronaldo duopoly in the award.

He comes after Real Madrid’s Luka Modric won the award in
2018 after breaking the dominance of those two players after over a decade of
shared glories. Lionel Messi won the 2019 edition.

Lewandowski got 52% of votes with Cristiano Ronaldo getting 38% and Lionel Messi had 35%.

Robert was the main man upfront for his club which won five
major trophies in the year 2020 including the UEFA Champions League and German
Bundesliga.

The prolific striker featured in 47 games and scored 55 goals in the 2019/2020 season to see his side claiming the five trophies

He scored 15 goals in the Champions League and then 34 goals in the German Bundesliga. But he also scored 18 goals in the current season.
