So the West Midlands side prepare for life back in the Championship – but do so with key names departing.

West Brom have released 14 players in total, including one-cap England international Nathaniel Chalobah.

Chalobah – who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2017 – joined from Fulham in January of 2023 on an 18-month contract.

But the older brother of current Blues centre-back Trevoh leaves after 49 games for the club.

Also on his way out is Scotland’s Matty Phillips following eight years and 255 appearances in black and white.

Notable other departures include former Burnley defender Erik Pieters and ex-French player Yann M’Vila.

Adam Reach, Martin Kelly, Jovan Malcolm, Jamie Andrews, Bradley Foster, Aaron Harper-Bailey, Narel Phillips, Ruben Shakpoke, Cheick Kone and Jenson Sumnall mak up the 14.

West Brom fell to a 3-1 second-leg loss to the Saints following a 0-0 draw at home.
