Fans had a mixed response to the tune

To close the festival, frontman Chris Martin took centre stage to sing a new song dedicated to the town titled ‘Orange’ – the colour of Luton‘s home kit.

Hatters fans had initially wanted Coldplay to change the lyrics to the song ‘Yellow’, which is a colour synonymous with the club’s arch rivals Watford.

But instead, Martin sung: “It’s hard to be a football fan here in Luton town. Sometimes you do the best you can, still you find you’re going down.

“We didn’t win all our matches, we didn’t win the Cup.

“But when you get knocked down in Luton, you always get back up.”

The official Luton Town X account shared a clip of the song online.

Another added: “This is quite possibly one of the most horrendous things I’ve ever seen.”
