Paul Scholes reveals two transfers Man Utd should have made as he moans ‘recruitment was easiest it could’ve ever been’
PAUL SCHOLES has claimed Manchester United’s recruitment last summer “was the easiest it could’ve ever been” as he named the two stars they should have signed.
The Red Devils legend, who won the Premier League 11 times and the Champions League twice under Sir Alex Ferguson, was at Old Trafford for Tuesday’s clash against Bayern Munich.

He was working as a pundit for TNT Sports as United took on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Before the game, the now 49-year-old was discussing the threat of Harry Kane, who left Tottenham for Bayern for £104m in August after United pulled out of the chase to sign him.
Erik ten Hag instead brought in midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea for £60m, goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan for £47m, £72m Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund, Turkey international goalie Altay Bayindir and Jonny Evans on a free transfer.
Full-back Sergio Reguilon and midfielder Sofyan Amrabat both joined on loan from Tottenham and Fiorentina respectively.
However, Scholes is adamant that instead of going for quantity, United should have blown their budget on two England stars.
One being Kane, and the other was Arsenal’s £105m midfield summer signing Declan Rice from West Ham.
He told TNT Sports: “I think the recruitment at Manchester United this summer was the easiest it could’ve ever been.
“You think of the likes of Harry Kane, £100m probably, you get him. He’d have wanted to come here. The other one is Declan Rice. £100m.”

Scholes continued: “You are buying proper quality. The right characters. They know about this club, the country… quality, quality players.
“I thought it was so easy. But the problem is the goalkeeper as well I suppose, they did need to buy a goalkeeper.
“This one [Andre Onana] hasn’t quite worked out as you’d have liked yet, but you’ve got to give him time.
“But I think them two players – forget about the four or five you are bringing in for £50/£60m – them two are ready to go, proven quality and this Manchester United team would be so much better.”
