Nottingham Forest ‘agree Jonjo Shelvey transfer with Newcastle midfielder travelling for medical’

JONJO SHELVEY is on his way to Nottingham Forest for a medical.

The Newcastle midfielder has dropped down the pecking order in the new era at St James’ Park.

But now the Toon has accepted a bid for the former Liverpool man.

And he is now making the journey to the East Midlands to get the transfer over the line.

It is understood Shelvey will put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground.

Shelvey joined Newcastle from Swansea in January 2016 for £12million.

He has made 202 Toon appearances, chipping in with 18 goals, but took to the field just three times in the Premier League this season.

His contract was due to expire in the north-east this summer.

Ironically, though, Shelvey was just two starts away from triggering a contract extension with the Magpies.
