Newcastle told to hurry up and sign major ‘upgrade’ for Martin Dubravka on free transfer after Nick Pope injury
JAMIE REDKNAPP has told Newcastle to hurry up and sign major “upgrade” David de Gea to replace Martin Dubravka.
The Magpies second choice shot-stopper is currently filling in for Nick Pope who has been ruled out for up to five months with a shoulder injury.

Pope sustained the blow in a 1-0 win against Manchester United earlier this month.
And Slovak keeper Dubravka has stood in for the Englishman, but he has conceded seven goals in two matches since Pope’s injury.
Meanwhile, De Gea who won the Golden Glove last term left the Red Devils after 12 years at Old Trafford and is still a free agent.
The Spaniard still lives in the UK and would be open the joining Eddie Howe‘s side.
Redknapp has urged the Newcastle boss to hurry up and sign De Gea – before somebody else does.
The Liverpool legend said: “I would say that bringing in David de Gea for Martin Dubravka would be an upgrade after what he did at Manchester United.
“How long it would take for him to get up to match speed, who knows.
“I would say Nick Pope’s injury could take at least five months to heal.

“It’s a nasty injury, and so when you’ve got a goalkeeper of that quality I would do it and not wait as others might move ahead of you.
“I’m surprised someone hasn’t taken him already to be honest.”
Newcastle have faced back-to-back defeats with their 4-1 loss to Tottenham and before that, Everton won 3-0 against the Magpies.
Prior to last week, Howe’s squad had a terrific start to the term playing in the Champions League for the first time since 2003.
They currently sit third in Group F but a victory against AC Milan on Tuesday could see them scrape through to the knockout stage if Borussia Dortmund beats Paris Saint-Germain.
