My NAP was unlucky last time and should be hard to beat under the champ William Buick

TEMPLEGATE tackles Saturday’s competitive racing confident of winners.

Read on for our man’s tips and back a horse by clicking their odds below.

LAW OF THE SEA (1.50 Haydock, nap)

He loved stepping up in trip when fourth in the Chester Cup last time. He was unlucky turning for home and crossed the line full of running. He looks hard to beat under William Buick.

YACOWLEF (2.05 Goodwood, nb)

He clocked a personal best when winning at Newmarket last time. He relished stepping up to this trip and had a bit left.

That was in the mud but he has handled quicker conditions before and has a course win to his name which is always a plus here.

LITTLE BIG BEAR (3.00 Haydock, treble)

He didn’t come close to staying a mile in the 2,000 Guineas last time where he came home lame for good measure.

He was a blistering sprinter last season with his win in the Phoenix Stakes over this trip as the highlight.

Assuming he’s over his Newmarket assertions he can land this nice prize for Aidan O’Brien and Frankie Dettori.

AULD TOON LOON improved for stepping up to 1m2f on handicap debut when second at Wetherby.

He gets an extra two furlongs here, which should see him find more again.

In The Breeze is a regular in the frame and was a solid third at Windsor earlier this month. He stays and has place claims again.

Thunder Ahead is hard to weight up on this return to turf. He looks on a fair mark and has won over this trip so may figure.

Peripeteia is 2lb lower than her last win which gives her a chance although she prefers the sand.

LAW OF THE SEA loved stepping up in trip when fourth in the Chester Cup last time.

He was unlucky turning for home and crossed the line full of running. He looks hard to beat under William Buick.

Carzola was in fine form on the all-weather and translated that to turf at Doncaster for a six-length success. A 10lb rise means he needs more but he’ll be on the premises.

Tony Martin sends Firstman over from Ireland where he has won over this trip. He can pay his travelling costs with a place.

Mountain Road is best of the rest but likes the all-weather.

JUST BRING IT looks a big price given how well he ran at Newmarket last time.

He came from a long way back to hit the front but was just nabbed in the dying strides. He will enjoy this better ground and cane go close again.

Covey is the obvious one after two good wins at novice level. He will enjoy moving up in distance on this handicap debut and has a fair weight.

James McHenry scored nicely here last time when finishing strongly. He’s gone up the weights but could improve past a 7lb rise.

Royal Cape had ten lengths to spare at Windsor. That was a modest race but he looks well up to this standard.

LITTLE BIG BEAR didn’t come close to staying a mile in the 2,000 Guineas last time where he came home lame for good measure.

He was a blistering sprinter last season with his win in the Phoenix Stakes over this trip as the highlight.

Assuming he’s over his Newmarket assertions he can land this nice prize for Aidan O’Brien and Frankie Dettori.

There’s a decent home team led by Cold Case who is another who did well as a juvenile.

He looked better than ever when winning the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Ascot on comeback earlier this month. He really battled there and will keep going to the line.

Bradsell saw the back of Little Big Bear at The Curragh last season and was a fair third in the Pavilion. He will come on for that return but needs more to reverse the form.

Matilda Picotte ran a cracker when third in the 1,000 Guineas. She got the mile well enough at HQ but did well in sprints last season. She can run another good race.

Al Dasim performed with credit in a Group 1 over this trip in Dubai last time out in March. He is another with a live each-way chance.

Mill Stream chased home Chaldean at York when last seen in August but is best watched on this return.

The Ridler was second in the Norfolk Stakes so has lots of pace but was hammered in the Greenham last time when the trip on heavy ground was the issue.

TWILIGHT CALLS can go one better than his unlucky second in this race 12 months ago.

Henry Candy’s hope was stuck waiting for a gap and the winner had flown by the time he got one.

He then ran a belter when second in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot before his season came to a premature end. He will be fitter for his quiet comeback at Newmarket and has every chance.

Trainer Karl Burke is having a dream run and his Dramatised looks a big threat. She won at Royal Ascot before not staying 6f at York.

Her season ended with a brilliant second at the Breeders’ Cup in America and the likely rattling ground will be right up her street.

The Platinum Queen hit the heights as a two-year-old with Group 1 glory in France. She loves this trip and can figure on her first run since being sold for more than £1.2m.

Live In The Dream rarely runs a bad race and went close in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket latest. He will make a bold bid from the front.

Mitbaahy is best over this trip on quick ground and looks a big price in an open race. Royal Aclaim looks the type to improve as a four-year-old and likes this trip.
