Mohamed Salah’s stolen medal recovered by cops, as two men arrested on suspicion of burgling the Liverpool star’s villa

LIVERPOOL forward Mohamed Salah’s stolen Africa Cup of Nations medal has been recovered by police after his villa was burgled in Cairo.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of ransacking the footballer’s luxury Egyptian villa on March 2.

Salah’s silver Africa Cup of Nations medal has been recovered alongside a multitude of other items stolen.

The luxury home is worth £350,000 per week, according to Egyptian daily newspaper Al-Ahram.

One of the alleged thieves worked as a security guard in Salah’s residential complex, according to the Egyptian Interior Ministry.

Reportedly, the former security guard admitted he knew the villa was free and he agreed to steal from it with a friend by entering via the back wall.

Salah’s nephew discovered the property ransacked after noticing an open window.

He contacted the police and went inside – finding items strewn around the floor as the property had been ransacked.

Training shoes and TV receivers were among the burgled items recovered by police.

Dad-of-two Salah has had a profound impact on his home nation – investing in numerous charity projects, especially around his hometown of Nagrig.

He has invested in a hospital and even helped rebuild a church that burned down in 2022.

Famously, Salah even helped a thief who once stole from his dad to turn his life around.

Last week, Salah became Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League with 129 goals.

Egypt captain Salah, 30, is also due to visit his home country soon as he will lead the national team in a double-header against Malawi in African Cup of Nations qualifying.

He will play in a home game on March 24 and the away match four days later.

Liverpool FC face off against Real Madrid tonight, looking to overturn the 5-2 defeat they suffered in the first leg at Anfield.

The team will need to overcome a score of 5-2 on aggregate against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu clash tonight to keep their Champions League campaign alive.

And with the Premier League title they last captured in 2019/20 out of the reach, the Reds were also dumped out of the FA Cup with a fourth round 2-1 loss to Brighton.
