MANCHESTER UNITED look set to be active again in the summer window, irrespective of how the season ends.

One position seriously needing considered is between the sticks, with David de Gea reportedly agreeing a new contract – but NOT guaranteed the number one spot.

United were title contenders briefly at the midway stage before falling away, with their top four hopes in serious jeopardy.

With the League Cup under their belts and an FA Cup final to come, a top four finish would represent a solid first season for Erik ten Hag.

But he’ll be desperate to close the gap on the leaders and his summer recruitment will be guided purely towards that.

And here, SunSport take a closer look at the SIX most likely arrivals at Old Trafford to challenge De Gea for the number one jersey, according to the latest odds supplied by bookmakers Betfair.

Diogo Costa – 2/1

The Porto keeper is one of the top prospects at the age of 23 – having already racked up over 100 appearances.

He’s also Portugal’s number one, collecting 12 caps to date.

Already has the endorsement of United’s defender Diogo Dalot, who is a close friend.

Dalot said: “I grew up with him, he’s my friend, there’s a great relationship between us and I know perfectly well that he has the capacity to one day be world class. I don’t know if he’ll be at Manchester United or another big club in Europe.”

David Raya – 3/1

The Brentford keeper has been lauded after a stellar season at the Bees.

Has knocked back two new contract offers and looks set to move elsewhere.

Only has one year left on his current deal.

Was taken to the World Cup with Spain last year at De Gea’s expense.

Giorgi Mamardashvili – 6/1

Valencia keeper Mamardashvili is set to quit the club in the summer, with a host of Premier League sides reportedly interested.

Chelsea were credited with an interest, with Spurs also understood to be keeping tabs.

Only extended his contract to 2027 this year but it was revealed he would be eyeing a switch away.

Has 17 clean sheets in 58 Valencia appearances, conceding 66 goals in that time.

Robert Sanchez – 6/1

Continuing the Spanish theme, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez is another live contender.

Was also part of Spain set up that De Gea missed out on in Qatar.

Has found himself out the Brighton team with Jason Steele taking control of the number one spot.

The 25-year-old has two years left on his Seagulls deal.

Mike Maignan – 10/1

A key reason why Milan are competing in the final four of the Champions League and in the hunt for Serie A’s top four.

Saved a penalty in quarter final and has three years left on deal.

The 27-year-old won best goalkeeper in Serie A last season.

Also has seven caps for France.

Jordan Pickford – 16/1

England’s number one could be slightly uninspiring for most United fans.

His future will likely be determined by what league Everton are in next season.

The 29-year-old has four years left on current Toffees deal though, so could prove costly acquisition – hence the odds.
