CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN has revealed how he upset Cristiano Ronaldo – in the midfielder’s otherwise brilliant debut season at Manchester United.

Eriksen has grown in influence in Erik ten Hag‘s promising first campaign in charge, whereas legend Ron departed brutally in December following his Piers Morgan interview.

But the Dane has joked about the one thing he got wrong with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

The former Brentford, Inter Milan and Tottenham creator, 31, told how Old Trafford faced a battle of the deadball experts early in the season.

Apart from Eriksen and Ronaldo, that includes Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

And that set-piece set-to kicked off when the ex-Ajax ace took a free-kick ahead of Portugal striker Ronaldo.

Eriksen told United’s official website: “Even now at the club we have multiple takers who, if he’s had a good day, he’s going to have it.

“I did take one [instead of Ronaldo], I think, but he wasn’t too happy with that!

“But then with the three we have now, it’s where we are on the pitch, how people are feeling, so it’s like ‘you had the last one, I’ll have the next one’.”

But Eriksen also revealed a far smoother relationship with mid-pitch partners Fernandes and Casemiro.

He said:  “I think from day one we connected really quick.

“We have three different players but three guys who are not scared of taking the ball and trying to create something.”
