He has impressed with his performances and scored twice in the 2-0 win over Uruguay on Monday.

That has led Real Madrid to reignite their interest in Fernandes and according to Record the club have sent scouts to watch the midfielder in Qatar.

The report adds Real could make a move for Fernandes in January or at the end of the season.

Los Blancos often sign players who impress at World Cups, such as Mesut Ozil, James Rodriguez and Eden Hazard.

The LaLiga champions also expressed an interest in signing Fernandes before he moved to United.

Fernandes could be interested in the offer, particularly with Real offering a guarantee of Champions League football.

And speculation about his future is only likely to increase if he continues to perform in Qatar.

The attacking midfielder has two goals and two assists in two games, despite Cristiano Ronaldo claiming Fernandes’ cross had touched his head on the way in.

Fernandes said of the incident: “I don’t think it really matters who scored.

“My feeling at the time was that Cristiano touched the ball. I was crossing to him. I celebrated as if it had been Cristiano’s goal.

“But what’s important is that we are able to go in the next round with an important win against a tough opponent.”
