Incoming investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe is claimed to be keen on prioritising home-grown talent.

The British billionaire is set to complete a purchase of 25 per cent of the Old Trafford side in a deal worth £1.3bn.

Ratcliffe will then assume control of the club’s footballing operations, including transfers.

The Daily Mail have reported that Marc Guehi and Ivan Toney are both targets.

Toney, 27, is expected to leave Brentford in the summer, however, he does have interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

The £80m-rated striker has not kicked a ball this season as he is currently banned for breaching betting rules.

He is expected to return in January and if he proves that he is still the same player from before the ban, then he could be a top signing.

Toney scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season as he helped the Bees to a top-ten finish.

Guehi, 23, has proved to be a top defender since his move to Crystal Palace in 2021.

The centre-back has gone on to earn nine caps for the Three Lions and could become one of the team’s cemented players in the future.

Guehi came through Chelsea’s youth academy but only made a couple of cup appearances for the club.

It was his loan moves to Swansea that saw him develop into a top prospect as he starred in the Championship.

Palace are believed to be keen to hold on to their star and will demand a fee of £60m.

Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in the Englishman.

United have only signed seven major players that have been homegrown since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.

Those players are Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Daniel James, Jadon Sancho, Mason Mount and Jonny Evans.
