MANCHESTER UNITED will have to play just one Premier League game in January due to schedule changes.

As things stand, the Red Devils will face Wigan and Tottenham at the start of the new year.

Should they defeat Wigan in the FA Cup, one more game will be added to their January schedule at the end of the month.

However, United’s only Prem outing will be a home clash with Tottenham on January 14.

Erik ten Hag’s side were originally set to face Wolves in the league on January 30, but that fixture has been moved to February 1 so it can be shown live on TNT Sports.

The fixture change will likely come as a relief for Man Utd as the club continue to manage several injuries.

Casemiro is not expected to return until mid-January due to a hamstring injury.

Lisandro Martinez is also unavailable until the beginning of 2024 as he continues to nurse a foot injury.

The lack of fixtures in January could also see Tyrell Malacia re-introduced to the squad for the first time this season.

Malacia has not made an appearance for the Red Devils since last season due to a knee issue.

Christian Eriksen, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo are also expected to return from injury in the coming weeks.

The light new year schedule could provide the perfect opportunity for all three players to build up their game time.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal, Aston Villa vs Newcastle, Tottenham vs Brentford, Man City vs Burnley, Liverpool vs Chelsea and West Ham vs Bournemouth have also been moved to accommodate TV scheduling on TNT Sports.
