Man Utd draft in TV star to help prepare Old Trafford pitch for crunch Chelsea clash

KALEB COOPER swapped Clarkson’s Farm for the Theatre of Dreams as the TV star tackled the turf amid Manchester United’s fallow season.

Jeremy Clarkson‘s popular side-kick took a mower and even scissors to the Old Trafford pitch after Amazon Prime asked him to give the surface a once-over ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Chelsea.

United came a cropper in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Newcastle, but victory over the mid-table Blues would return them to the Premier League top six.

Erik ten Hag‘s men have notched just 16 goals in 14 Prem games.

So it was appropriate that a celebrity in a pair of welly boots rather than shooting boots was called in before a huge midweek game for both teams.

But Cooper mocked his talents far more than United’s players could do theirs as he gave the pitch the once-over.

He looked awestruck when he walked out – equipped with a pitch mower rather than the ruthless farming gear he typically uses.

The 25-year-old then said on a voice-over: “The Premier League returns to Prime Video and they’ve employed me for the day to get the pitch ready.”

Cooper, who has 2.1million Instagram fans, even confessed he was a bit of a slacker when it came to mowing on Clarkson’s Farm.

He claimed: “I cut my grass when it’s, you know, there” – as he indicated a height above his head.

And he then admitted having a problem with accuracy – a familiar issue surrounding United, whose top Prem scorers are midfielders Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes on three goals apiece.

Assessing his work on the Old Trafford lines, Cooper said his had “a proper wiggle on”.

But he got down to fine-tune his work with scissors as he insisted: “Precision is key.”

Cooper signed off back in his comfort zone as he zoomed around outside Old Trafford on a tractor.

But if United stumble on Wednesday evening, perhaps Ten Hag should borrow some of the farmer’s equipment to give his team a welly-boot up the backside.
