Footage captured by Spanish outlet Jijantes shows Murtough and his chief negotiator meeting with Barcelona sporting director Deco.

Two CAA Base agents, Frank Tramboli and Fede Massa also tagged along.

But the Manchester Evening News report that the footie bosses were only in the sunny city for what’s been described as a routine meeting.

The gathering came just four days after Catalan-based news outlet Sport broke the news that Barca were keen to acquire Greenwood.

This is despite the fact that fans booed him during his recent 4-0 defeat to Xabi’s side.

Greenwood, 22, is currently on loan at Getafe from United and is contracted to the Red Devils until 2025.

The winger has impressed while reprising his career, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 26 appearances.

The meeting also raised eyebrows among supporters, who have latched onto the theory that Murtough could be attempting to offload flop Antony.

United will listen to offers for the Brazilian, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe plans for record sales in a bid to reset the club’s haphazard approach to transfers.

The 24-year-old has had a miserable 20 months with issues off the pitch affecting his performances on it.

Since his return in October but has contributed no goals nor assists in his last 20 league appearances.

The Red Devils are also concerned about Financial Fair Play rules, after they were fined £257,000 in December for a “minor breach”.

One fan wrote: “They’re planning on an Antony deal.”

Another added: “Antony and De Jong swap you love to see it.”

A third said: “This is about Greenwood surely.”

Meanwhile another more sceptical user declared: “Best not be about Greenwood, hands off please.”

Greenwood’s contact expires in the summer of 2025, although the Red Devils do have an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Ratcliffe and co haven’t yet announced a decision on his future and aren’t expected to until the summer.
