Man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over death of ice hockey star Adam Johnson who’s ‘throat was slashed by skate’

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter over the death of ice hockey star Adam Johnson.

The Nottingham Panthers forward, 28, died after being struck by an ice skate last month.

Johnson suffered a gash to the neck following a collision with an opposition player for at the Utilita Arena on October 28.

The Panthers were playing against the Sheffield Steelers when the collision took place in the 35th minute of the game.

Johnson immediately fell to the floor, before being helped towards the side of the rink by a referee and teammate.

However, he collapsed a few paces later and received emergency medical treatment on the ice.

Teammates created a ring around him to provide privacy as paramedics worked on the ice, before he was rushed to hospital.

But Johnson died of his injuries hours later, the Panthers confirmed in a club statement.
