Jockey facing huge ban for ‘extraordinary’ betting scandal says he did nothing wrong
A JOCKEY who is facing a huge fan for his alleged role in an ‘extraordinary’ betting scandal has insisted: “I did nothing wrong.”
Danny Brock was found guilty of riding horses to lose as part of a conspiracy that saw others win bets.

The British Horseracing Authority case concerned Brock and five others – and the ex-jockey will find out the length of his ban on Thursday.
The BHA found it ‘obvious’ that Brock’s ‘improper riding’ and lay bets on those runners were ‘not coincidental’.
In two races, a series of four-figure bets were put on horse Mochalov before he lost.
In another at Southwell, Brock, who did not take part in the hearing, was slow to remove a hood on Samovar before the horse was beaten ten lengths in a match race.
One person involved in the case, Eugene Maloney, was found to have put £6,000 on winner Tricky Dicky before the race.
Andrew Perring, an acquaintance of Brock and Maloney, staked £2,248 on the same horse.
Luke Howells, also found in breach of anti-corruption rules, put £2,200 on the runner.
While Sean McBride, son of Newmarket trainer Charlie, deposited £7,200 and put it all on 2-5 fav Tricky Dicky.
McBride denied discussing the race with Brock.
A panel found the BHA’s case against Luke Olley was not proved but he remains excluded from racing for not co-operating with the enquiry.
Maloney, Perring and Howells were all banned from racing in 2020 for refusing to co-operate with the probe.
The panel found: “There was nothing to explain why the gamblers were layers in the races where Mr Brock was not trying and backers in the races where he was.”
However, Brock denied any wrongdoing when speaking to the Racing Post.
He said: “I didn’t do anything. I’ve stayed away from the whole thing.
“The picture that’s being painted of me is ridiculous.”
Tommy Berry, a leading jockey in Australia, was yesterday banned for a year for his role in a betting scandal.
