FORMER Liverpool star James Milner has revealed the club’s brutal fines system where the Reds players get to decide the punishment.

Using an inflatable dice and holding a court case with his squad, Jurgen Klopp has put in place some bizarre methods to charge his squad over the years at Anfield.

Milner, 37 opened up about the dressing room antics during his eight-year spell at Anfield as he left during the summer to join Brighton.

The midfielder joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015 from Manchester City before Klopp took over as manager in October of the same year.

And the German manager implemented a strict system in Merseyside that allowed his players to choose their own consequences for their misconduct.

The punishments players were prosecuted for ranged from being late to wearing “flip flops in the gym” according to the Englishmen.

Milner said on the High Performance podcast: “We had the fines. We had a court case, we had a big inflatable dice, you had to roll it and things like that.

“If someone was late but they had a reason or flip flops in the gym and there was a reason.

“We randomly drew who was on the jury that day and I would basically be running the court and arguing why someone should be fined.

“And someone would argue the case if they shouldn’t be fined.”

Depending on the outcome of the inflatable dice, players could either avoid their fine, increase it, or attempt to get rid of it.

The forfeits would include random games with the Englishmen talking about the time when ex-Liverpool star Roberto Firmino was faced with a fine.

He continued: “So the dice was you can either pay the fine or you had different things. One would be a double payment. One would get off with it. One would be a forfeit.”

“Bobby Fermino was on a Swiss ball trying to balance to throw a tennis into a ball foam roller and he had three attempts and if he got it he didn’t have to pay.”

However, Klopp’s strange dressing room tactics have led his team so far to secure a league title, an FA Cup, a Champions League, a Club World Cup and an EFL Cup.

And Milner praised the manager’s approach and credited the boss for uniting the players.

He added: “It was a good togetherness thing and I think that these little things create that dressing room.”
