Huge Euro 2024 row as nation blasts ‘unsportsmanlike’ rival and says ‘you can’t even organise a family holiday this way’
EURO 2024 hopefuls Hungary are embroiled in a bitter row with Bulgaria.
The two nations are due to clash on Thursday, but the venue for the Group G game was moved by Bulgaria today – just 48hrs out from the clash.

The change was caused by the Plovdiv municipality’s decision to not make the Hristo Botev stadium available due to ongoing construction work at the venue.
The Vasil Levski stadium of Sofia, located 82 miles away, will now play host to the match.
The Hungarian FA blasted the host nation for its “unsportsmanlike” conduct in proceedings.
They called the Bulgarian Football Union’s (BFU) actions “unprecedented, totally unjustified and grossly unsportsmanlike”.
The scathing statement added: “It is not even possible to organise a family holiday in this way, let alone an international football match with a huge stake, involving millions of people.”
Meanwhile, the BFU pinned the blame on Plovdiv municipality, claiming it had violated the preliminary agreement for the use of the stadium.
A statement said: “UEFA ordered that the match will be played behind closed doors at the Vasil Levski stadium in Sofia.”
The two nations have had contradictory qualifying campaigns.

Hungary are top of the group with 14 points and will secure a spot at next summer’s Euro 2024 if they score a point against Bulgaria or if Montenegro drops points against Lithuania.
Bulgaria meanwhile sit bottom of the group having failed to win a single game so far, but still have a slim hope of qualifying through a play-off spot.
