Horse racing tips: Templegate NAP can improve past rivals plus Friday’s TV verdicts

0

TEMPLEGATE looks to build the bank for 2000 Guineas day at Newmarket with some winners on Friday.

Read on for our man’s tips and back a horse by clicking their odds below.

LIGHT INFANTRY (1.50 Newmarket, nap) can march to glory.

He developed into a smart three-year-old last season, finishing second in two Group 1 races, and he remains lightly raced. This scopey sort can improve past Native Trail.

TIME LOCK (2.05 Goodwood, nb) produced a much improved effort when second to St Leger fourth Haskoy at York in August. Her pedigree suggests she’ll improve with age and she looks tough to beat.

WEST WIND BLOWS (3.35 Newmarket, treble) posted some smart form in France to end 2022 and looks capable of even better this year, especially at this trip.

TV Verdicts

1.15 Newmarket

VICTORY DANCE disappointed on his final start of 2022, but that race won by Nostrum has worked out well and he is 6lb clear on ratings.

He has course form and was beaten a head by Isaac Shelby on his second start, who bolted up in the Greenham last month. Salt Bay is the obvious danger after his Group 1 second last year.

1.30 Goodwood

RELENTLESS WARRIOR could be the one to side with as form is at a premium. He’s related to some useful types and Andrew Balding has made a decent start with his juveniles. The form standard is set by last-time-out winner Vitarli.

1.50 Newmarket

LIGHT INFANTRY can march past Native Trail at Newmarket. He was behind him when they met in the 2000 Guineas last season, but it was just his third start and he was placed in two Group 1s thereafter.

He’s a scopey sort and should blossom this season, whereas Native Trail perhaps has less room to improve after a precocious three-year-old campaign.

2.05 Goodwood

TIME LOCK is another who looks certain to improve with age. She ended a progressive 2022 by finishing a neck second to Haskoy at York and she sets a very daunting standard.

2.25 Newmarket

MAJESTIC PRIDE is one of my 16 to follow and should be up to winning this Listed prize. He took his record to 2-3 by winning a course and distance conditions race on return and as a half-brother to Champion Stakes hero Farhh, there should be bundles to come.

Shouldvebeenaring has plenty of experience and is unlikely to be far away, while Iconic Moment can benefit from a drop back in trip.

2.35 Goodwood

PROP FORWARD was another of the 16 to follow and was gutsy when making all on return at Kempton. Clive Cox excels with these types of sprinters and he can overcome a big weight.

3.00 Newmarket

ACCIDENTAL AGENT won on his return over course and distance last year off this exact mark and can repeat the trick. Georgia Dobie gets on well with him and her handy 3lb claim only furthers his claims.

3.35 Newmarket

WEST WIND BLOWS looks the one to beat in the Group 2 feature after Hurricane Lane’s flop on return at Newbury. He won on return last year and looks ready for this step up in trip – he won’t be inconvenienced if this turns tactical either.
