Ghana is not respected anymore on the continent – Mohammed Polo

Black Stars legend Mohammed Polo has opined that Ghana football has lost the respect it used to command on the continent due to the senior national teams struggles in recent years. Polo was reacting to Ghanas qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and whether the team can end the countrys almost four decades wait for the title.To be frank, Ghana is not respected anymore on the continent. Some years back, other countries had great respect for our game but as we speak it is no more because they are able to score us with ease he told Bryt FM.The Hearts of Oak legend was one of Ghana’s best players in 1978 when they won the Afcon.He continued that, During our time, countries on the continent especially the North Africans had to cheat before they can score u. It is about time we start organizing ourselves well. I can emphasize North African countries are currently ruling the game on the continentI think we are sleeping, a country that has been likened to Brazil. We had players that were compared to world-class players like Ronaldo, Messi and others. We need to start organizing ourselves if we want to win a trophy but for now, I dont think we can end the trophy drought anytime soon he said.Ghana have been crowned champions of Africa on four different occasions, with the last coming in 1982. Since then, the Black Stars have suffered three final heartbreaks.
