The 31-year-old oval ball ace was lifted by cops shortly before 5pm at his former family home in Hawick, Roxburghshire.

The previous night the rugby hero was seen mingling with celebrity pals like Martin Compston and TV’s Matershef host Gregg Wallace in the hospitality zone at Murrayfield where his former teammates defeated England in a Six Nations showdown.

He shared the snaps on his Instagram page, saying: “What a day. What a result. Cracking performance from the lads.”

It’s understood Hogg was taken to the town’s police station after officers were called to attend the address.

He was later released and a report submitted to prosecutors ahead of an expected court appearance at a date still to be determined.

We told how Hogg split from his wife Gillian, 36, before going public with his new love, former jockey Leonna Mayor, 33.

Hogg is one of Scotland’s most celebrated rugby stars having earned 100 caps for his nation and became our all-time leading try scorer.

He was given an MBE by the King in the New Year’s Honours list.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.40pm on Sunday, 25 February, police were called to an address in Hawick.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested and charged. He was released on an undertaking to appeal at Jedburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
