Sakho, 33, quit the French club after a bust-up with manager Michel Der Zakarian.

It was reported that during the incident the manager’s necklace – a family heirloom – was said to have been broken.

The defender has only played for six league minutes this season as he struggled to make the Montpellier team.

His sole appearance came in the 3-0 win over FC Lorient back in October.

RMC Sport have now claimed that Sakho is looking to get himself a new club.

The outlet has suggested that the Frenchman would be interested in a move to the Saudi Pro League.

It adds that Sakho has “no shortage of options” and that he is not constrained by the transfer window due to his position as a free agent.

The defender started his career at Paris Saint-Germain before making an £18million switch to Liverpool in 2013.

He went on to make 80 appearances for the club, scoring three goals before leaving in January 2017.

Sakho joined Crystal Palace on an initial loan before the club made the move permanent the following summer for £24m.

He made 75 appearances for the Eagles in total before leaving in 2021 to join Montpellier on a free transfer.
