MICAH RICHARDS hilariously mocked Alan Shearer on social media after the Newcastle legend congratulated Erling Haaland for breaking his record.

Haaland, 22, scored his 35th Premier League goal of the season on Wednesday evening as Manchester City beat West Ham 2-0 at the Etihad.

In doing so, he set a new record for most goals in a single Premier League season, eclipsing the 34 from Shearer in 1994/95 and Andy Cole in 1993/94.

After Haaland’s 35th league goal, Gary Lineker tweeted: “A Premier League record for @ErlingHaaland. 35 goals. That’s nuts.

“Thoughts are with @alanshearer at this difficult time.”

In response, Shearer replied: “Couldn’t have wanted it to go to a nicer guy. It’s only taken 28 years!!!! He’s the best .”

To which Haaland said: “Thank you legend! .”

But Richards was having none of Shearer’s humility.

And he insisted the Premier League’s record goalscorer was actually angry at Haaland – sharing a well-known meme to illustrate his view.

And fans were loving Richards’ jovial prodding of Shearer.

One said: “ Micah violated him .”

Another added: “Odds on Alan coming out of retirement next season?!”

And a third replied: “Cracker .”

Haaland has scored his 35 Premier League goals in just 31 games this season.

He still has five matches remaining to add to his remarkable record.

And he also has his sights set on Dixie Dean’s single-season record of 63 goals in all competitions in England.
