Fallon Sherrock set to try to secure a permanent spot on PDC darts tour after making history three years ago

FALLON SHERROCK will attempt next week to secure a permanent spot on the PDC darts tour.

Lisa Ashton became the first woman to win a Tour Card three years ago following her excellent performances at UK Qualifying School.

Sherrock, 28, will try to follow that example when she plays in the seven-day event in her home town of Milton Keynes.

The former hairdresser made history in 2019 when she eliminated two men — Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic — on the Ally Pally stage, making global headlines.

Since then, the mum-of-one has received several jet-setting invites on the World Series and lifted the inaugural Women’s World Matchplay last July in Blackpool.

Her next ambition to appear on the circuit on a weekly basis for the next two years, which would be a huge step forward for the profile and development of women’s darts.

It is understood that Ashton, 52, and Beau Greaves — the 18-year-old women’s world champion — are not planning to take part in the Q School.

There are more than 260 entries so far for the tournament at the Marshall Arena, which starts on Sunday and is split into two stages.

It is a cut-throat environment where the hopes and dreams of established players can be ended by one or two below-par displays.

Among the many hopefuls is Jamie Durrant — the nephew of three-time Lakeside champion Glen.

Scottish stars John Henderson and  William Borland — who hit a nine-darter at the 2022 Worlds – are hoping to win back their two-year Tour Cards.

Kevin McDine, who was handed a two-year ban from the oche in September 2018 after testing positive for cocaine, will once again try to be a full-time fixture on the scene.

There is a separate European Qualifying School being held simultaneously in Germany for continental-based throwers.

Across the two events, there are 32 Tour Cards on offer.
