The Citizens clinched their fifth top-flight title in six years over the weekend having pipped challengers Arsenal to the ultimate prize.

And they are expected to continue their dominance over English football next year with Pep Guardiola’s side priced at 8/15 to retain their title.

The Manchester club are expected to strengthen again this summer with the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Declan Rice and Kim Min-jae linked.

It’s also frightening to consider that centre-forward Erling Haaland could improve on his debut campaign in the Premier League, despite scoring 36 league goals in 34 appearances.

There are, however, also possible major outgoings with Ilkay Gundogan’s contract set to expire, Aymeric Laporte a target for Athletic Bilbao and PSG strongly considering an approach for Bernardo Silva.

Newcastle are the 15/2 second-favourites to win the Premier League title next season after they secured Champions League football on Monday.

Eddie Howe’s side have gone from bottom of the division to Europe’s top competition in 18 months and will have the financial muscle to significantly improve their squad.

Betfair think Arsenal’s European commitments will hamper their chances of challenging for a first league title since 2003-04 and have them at 9/1 to end that drought.

Liverpool are the same price, although that price could shift either way depending on their ability to replace the likes of Roberto Firmino, and bolster their midfield ranks.

Manchester United are a double-figure 11/1 with Betfair not too hot on Erik ten Hag’s chances of transforming his side into genuine title contenders.

They’re even less positive about Chelsea’s prospects at 16/1.

The Blues spent heavily in January and will more than likely splash the cash again this summer with a striker on their wish list.

But it’s a tough ask to expect incoming boss Mauricio Pochettino to take his side from the bottom half to winners in the space of 12 months.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Newcastle are the 15/2 second-favourites to win a first ever Premier League title next season after they secured Champions League football on Monday night.

“Unsurprisingly, treble-chasing Man City are the 8/15 odds-on favourites to retain their top flight crown. Arsenal are 9/1 to go one better under Mikel Arteta, while Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are 11/1 to finish top next May.”

Brighton are considered ‘best of the rest’ at 33/1 with Tottenham DOUBLE the price at 66/1.
