Can anyone stop the Aidan O’Brien and John Gosden dominance in next week’s Epsom Oaks?

Staggeringly, O’Brien has won six of the last ten runnings, while Gosden has scooped up three.

Frankie Dettori on his most recent Oaks winner Snowfall

To the surprise of no one, O’Brien and Gosden runners dominate the ante-post market for the 2023 running.

Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori have traded runnings for the last four years, with Dettori winning on Anapurna and Snowfall, while Moore has been successful on Love and last year’s winner Tuesday.

Favourites have a fairly poor record in the race, with just two of the last ten runnings having a successful market leader.

Dettori is the most successful of the current crop of jockeys in the race – can he have his perfect Oaks swansong?

The Oaks usually goes off at the same time as the Derby, but that race will go off at 1.30pm the next day.

That is because of a row regarding the FA Cup final, which is taking place on the same day.

Who will be Frankie Dettori’s final Oaks ride?

It’s not been confirmed, but it would be a surprise if Dettori didn’t partner Soul Sister.

He’s ridden her for both her runs this season, most recently when she romped to success in the Musidora at York.

Exceptionally bred and clearly a very smart type, she has excellent claims of giving Dettori his perfect farewell from the race.

Epsom Oaks 2023 ante-post tip

On paper this is a match between Savethelastdance and Soul Sister, who won their trials in impressive fashion.

Ryan Moore was extremely complimentary of Savethelastdance after her Chester win, however, and it usually pays to head his advice.

A beautifully bred daughter of Galileo, she is clearly progressing at a rapid rate and despite winning all her runs on soft ground, better conditions shouldn’t be a problem given her US dam.
