England make huge Six Nations blunder as they accidentally SNUB captain Jamie George from the squad

A HUGE RFU cock-up saw new England captain Jamie George embarrassingly SNUBBED from the official squad line-up.

The Saracens hooker, 33, was omitted from Steve Borthwick’s squad on the England Rugby website.

But he was quickly reinstated

But he was hastily reinstated  — after SunSport informed RFU chiefs of their blunder.

George led the Red Rose for the first time in England’s opening 27-24 Six Nations win over Italy.

He will captain them again tomorrow against Wales.

George said he expected to be “very emotional” when he leads England out for the first time for a match at Twickenham.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “It’s huge. It’s a dream come true.

“Being at Twickenham, singing the anthem and that walkout will be a very emotional moment for me.”

However, things have not been rosy for England at Twickenham in recent years.

Their last game at the 82,000-capacity stadium was a defeat in a World Cup warm-up game against Fiji.

And that came five months after England fell to a record 53-10 thrashing at the hands of France.

But George believes they can make the good times start rolling again, with the team submitting ideas to improve the atmosphere at the ground.

On his first game as captain at Twickenham, he said: “I think it’s special it’s against Wales. The first thing you think of is the history of the fixture.

“Our recent record at Twickenham has been poor and we have been very outspoken about how we want Twickenham to be great again, so we have the responsibility to do that and what a privilege that is.

“Usually on Monday we have a tactical meeting about the rugby stuff but [head coach] Steve [Borthwick] parked that for a bit this week to talk about the opportunity we have to be back at home against Wales and we touched on the emotion.

“Then the senior players took over, which was great.

These ideas are both in and out of sight, with one including a longer fan walk through the west car park to the dressing rooms and more personal messages by their pegs in the dressing room.

George added: “We have extended the walk [to the stadium] from the bus and there have been changes in the changing room, which will hopefully make a difference to the team.”
