Emery forced to run on pitch and hold back Villa’s Kamara as he’s sent off after THIRD mass brawl in win over Brentford

OLLIE WATKINS sparked total mayhem against his former club after grabbing an 85th minute winner.

And both teams are certain to be changed by the Football Association after some extraordinary scenes during the closing stages.

Villa striker Watkins helped complete a stunning turnaround in the space of eight minutes for Unai Emery’s side who received a boost after home defender Ben Mee was sent off in the 71st minute.

Trailing to Keane Lewis Potter’s first half goal, Alex Moreno levelled in the 77th minute before Watkins headed into the net in the 85th minute in front of the home fans.

But that sparked an incredible chain of events which saw both sets of players tussle both in the net and on the pitch itself. The entire game threatened to get out of control.

The bad blood continued when Boubacar Kamara was given a straight red in the 97th minute for shoving the face of Brentford sub Yehor Yarmoliuk after visiting keeper Emi Martinez and Neal Maupay clashed.

Both sets of players dived in and visiting boss Emery was booked by ref David Coote.

Everything was going to plan for Brentford when Lewis-Potter grabbed his first goal for Brentford. Moreno was guilty of swinging out a lazy leg to clear Ghoddos’ corner and failed to realise that Lewis-Potter was breathing down his neck. He took a touch and then stuck the ball into the corner from around the penalty spot.

Lewis-Potter received a standing ovation when he was substituted in the halfway through the second half and seconds later, Mee delivered his tackle and it all started to go wrong for Brentford.

 Mee was initially given a yellow card before Coote was asked to review the decision on the screen. Although there was little contact it was still a silly tackle.

Mee was angry that Bailey indicated to the ref that it was a yellow card so you can imagine how annoyed he was once that decision was changed.

And Villa then clawed their way back into the game after Bailey delivered an outstanding cross from the right to give Moreno an easy header at the far post.

Watkins then headed Villa into the lead after Kamara flicked on Jacob Ramsey’s corner to spark an extraordinary end to this game.

The England striker celebrated in the net and pointed at a fan in the home end. Brentford’s Saman Ghoddos tried to pull Watkins away and then he clashed with visiting defender Ezri Konsa.

Incredibly, Bailey nearly scored the own goal of the season and while Martinez saved, he then went down theatrically following a challenge from Maupay.

That lit the touchpaper and Maupay went down following a similar challenge from the Villa keeper and when Martinez tried to drag him up, all all broke loose.

Although he was not the only culprit, Kamara got a red for grabbing the throat of Yarmoliuk.

Ultimately, Villa meaning they have lost just once since September.

Asked why he celebrated as he did after the game, Watkins said: “There was one individual who was abusing me all game so it only felt right that i celebrated in front of him. That caused a bit of a reaction and I’m glad we got three points.

“Frank asked why I celebrated him like that and I told him. We’re still on texting terms. I feel like I’ve done so much for the club, there were just a few things that he did.”

Further quizzed if the club will report the incident, he added: “It’s up to them whether they want me, Thomas knows I wouldn’t just celebrate like that.”
