Daniel Amartey wins second trophy with Leicester City in 2021
Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey has his trophy in the present year with his club Leicester City.
Leicester beat Manchester City by a lone goal to clinch the 2021/2022 English Community Shield played at the Wembly Stadium in London. The goal was scored by Nigerian striker Kenechi Iheanocho from the penalty spot.
The Community Shield win adds up to Amartey’s trophies in English Football. He won the 2020/2021 FA Cup in May after Tielemans goal separated them and Chlesea.
Amartey has now won all three major trophies in England. He
won the English Premier League with Leicester in 2016.
The 27 year old defender played full 90 minutes as he featured at centre back with Turkish defender Caglar Soyuncu. The pair were solid and did not allow the attackers of Manchester City spaces to shoot towards goal.
Leicester City had chances to go ahead in the first half but could not take advantage of the numerous opportunities.
The second half saw Manchester City doing more of the attacking but also failed to score thanks to the solidity of defence from Amartey and Soyuncu.
Leicester City will play first match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2021 2022 English Premier League on Saturday, August 14, 2021.
