The veteran manager, 76, is under increasing pressure in South London with reports suggesting chairman Steve Parish is seriously considering his options.

The Eagles are in 15th position and just five points above the relegation zone after a run of four Premier League wins in 18 matches.

Things took another turn for the worse on Monday when Crystal Palace conceded two injury-time goals against Chelsea to consign them to a fourth defeat in five.

Hodgson has a further headache with superstar duo Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze sidelined for the foreseeable future with injury – and both will definitely miss next week’s six-pointer against Everton at Goodison Park.

It’s said that Parish has sounded out potential replacements – but he’s struggling to find a replacement who is willing to take over at this stage of the season.

But who could replace Roy Hodgson?

McKenna, 37, is the distant odds-on favourite having earned plaudits for his incredible work at Ipswich Town.

The Northern Irishman was appointed in December 2021, and achieved promotion during his first full season in charge at Portman Road.

McKenna has Ipswich pushing for an unlikely promotion, alongside the likes of Leicester, Southampton and Leeds – who all boast much greater financial muscle.

Asked about the links with the Eagles, McKenna said: “Look my full focus, full commitment is with Ipswich and the season that we’re having and the next game ahead. That’s where all of my energy is and all my commitment is.

“I don’t pay any attention to it, to be honest. It’s not the first time in the last couple of years.

“If you’re doing well there are going to be links. Football can work the other way pretty quickly as well. I just focus on the day-to-day work here.

“As I’ve said, I’m very proud and honoured to manage this football club, am enjoying doing so and will continue to do the best I can.”

Free agent Oliver Glasner is next at 6/1, ahead of Graham Potter and Steve Cooper, who are priced at 13/2 and 7/1 respectively.

Scott Parker makes an appearance at 8/1, and he’s the last at single-figure prices with Julen Lopetegui, Jose Mourinho and Michael Carrick all at 14/1+.
