The now Boston based fighter was the first ever Irish fighter to compete in the Dana White run promotion 14-years ago.

Egan competed on the UFC 93 card that was held in 3Arena over a decade ago, it was also the first time the world’s number one MMA promotion dawned Irish shores.

Although Egan lost the fight via TKO to England’s John Hathaway in a welterweight contest, it was a historic night for Irish mixed martial arts.

The event featured MMA legends such as Dan Henderson, Rich Franklin, Maurício Rua, and Mark Coleman.

Tom only fought once for the promotion but went on to compile an MMA record of 7-4 before hanging up his gloves in 2014.

He captioned the story post by saying: “On this day in 2009 made history by becoming Ireland’s first UFC star at the age of just 20…..”
