Chelsea 23/24 specials as Mauricio Pochettino 5/2 to lead Blues to silverware and ODDS-ON to finish above Spurs

MAURICIO POCHETTINO is the man tasked with turning Chelsea’s fortunes around next season.

Although after the year that’s just gone, it surely can’t get any worse.

Chelsea were 16 points behind league leaders Arsenal at Christmas and eight points off the top four at that stage.

They never recovered from that slow start and despite a change in manager, their fortunes showed no sign of swapping.

But Poch’s arrival brings fresh optimism to a club that has spent around £600million in transfer fees already under Todd Boehly.

That expectancy to do well next term is also shared by the bookmakers, with Betfair making it just 5/2 that Pochettino wins a piece of silverware in his first year in charge.

At much shorter odds, Poch is 3/10 to see out the entire season at Stamford Bridge, a luxury not shared by former boss Graham Potter.

Getting one over his old side is a short price too, with finishing above Tottenham available at 1/3, and it’s 7/2 for them to win both games against Spurs next season.

Chelsea are currently 6/4 to reach the top four, with no European football to hamper them.

Poch got the best out of Harry Kane and is 15/2 to sign him to lead the Chelsea attack this summer.

Another disaster of a league season isn’t envisaged, with another bottom half finish (15/2) and Poch to leave before Christmas (6/1) at bigger odds, though to be top at Christmas is a bigger price at 9/1.

They’re then 16/1 to win next season’s Premier League and 28/1 to collect a double.

Signing Dele Alli is the 2023/24 longshot at 50/1.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “One of football’s biggest secrets was revealed when Mauricio Pochettino was announced as Chelsea’s new manager on Monday.

“Pochettino is 5/2 to win a major trophy in his first season at Stamford Bridge, while the Blues are 1/3 to finish above the Argentine’s former club, Tottenham.

“Pochettino got the best out of Harry Kane during their time together at Tottenham and the England captain is 15/2 to join Chelsea this summer.

“The lifespan of a Chelsea manager has been short under Todd Boehly, with Pochettino 6/1 to leave his role before Christmas Day.”
