Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has extended his contract with the club until June 2022.

The Uruguay international signed a one-year extension to his contract with the club on Monday.

Cavani, 34, has been one of United’s standout performers in both England and abroad since the start of the season.

In recent weeks the striker has scored eight goals, contributing three more in his seven appearances.

Cavani came to United on a free transfer in October 2020, scoring 15 goals in all competitions this season and nine of those in the Premier League.

Cavani was one of the key players in United’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday in the Premier League.

The striker has been one of the most prolific strikers in European football for the past decade, scoring 200 goals in 301 appearances for PSG since joining from Napoli.

Cavani left French side PSG in June 2020 after falling out with Brazilian striker Neymar Jr.
