Chelsea vs Aston Villa betting tips

Chelsea had won three of their last four going into the break as a clear upturn in form was there for all to see.

In fact, only a late Ellis Simms goal for Everton in the final game prevented a four-game winning run with that 2-2 draw.

Goals had been hard to come by for Graham Potter’s side but they look to have got their act together in that department.

Six goals in their last three games shows an improvement, though they’re still stuck in tenth spot.

Three games and a draw in their last four games is exactly the same run of form as visitors Aston Villa.

Unai Emery’s side bounced back from a late defeat to Arsenal to go on the mini-run against sides battling it out for relegation.

Ollie Watkins’ six goals in eight games has gone a long way to improving Villa’s results and he’ll be desperate to keep that up and force his way back into the England fold.

The away side has won the past couple of meetings between the two sides, with the Blues winning the last three league encounters.

Home’s where the heart is

Despite the away side winning the past two competitive meetings between the sides, Chelsea’s home form has picked up.

A defeat to lowly Southampton was a poor result, but only that and a 1-0 loss to Manchester City are the blemishes on the home record in the past eight games there.

Aston Villa haven’t done too much wrong away from Villa Park in recent weeks.

But that turn up in form for the Blues – including win over Borussia Dortmund, should see them over the line.

Our tip: Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals at 13/8 with William Hill

Hav some of that

Joao Felix has clearly made a huge impact in the Chelsea final third since his arrival.

But that looks to have helped Kai Havertz in particular.

The German scored in three consecutive games before the split and will be desperate to pick up where he left off.

Our tip: Kai Havertz to score first at 7/2 at Ladbrokes

Make a booking

Chelsea will be looking to have plenty of the ball, finding pockets in between the Villa midfield for their creative players.

Villa could have to do a lot of work without the ball, and therefore putting pressure on the midfield to do a power of work.

They look like having to do so without Boubacar Kamara who remains a doubt through injury.

Brazilian Douglas Luiz is set to play in the middle and could add to his three bookings in the last eight games by picking another one up here.

Our tip: Douglas Luiz to be carded at 15/8 with William Hill
